Dr. Özyiğit was graduated as the top first of Bilecik Ertugrul Gazi High School in 1989. He was graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine (English group) in 1996. He completed his specialist training at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. He became an assistant professor in 2004, and associate professor of radiation oncology in 2006. He worked as an observer at Washington University Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (St Louis, USA) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York City, USA) in July 2000. He made several pioneering clinical studies about intensity modulated radiation therapy at Washington University (St Louis, USA) in 2001, and at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer (Houston, USA) in 2002. He was the editor and co-editor of seven international textbooks about the fields of general radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiation as well as he was the writer of more than 60 international textbook chapters. He was the owner of ‘Hacettepe Science Incentive Award’ in 2010. He also received eleven different awards in various national cancer congresses. His main interests are modern radiotherapy techniques (intensity modulated radiation therapy, robotic radiosurgery / radiotherapy), head and neck cancers, genitourinary tumors (prostate and bladder cancer), and breast cancer.
