Dr. Barışta graduated from Ankara College of Turkish Society for Education (Türk Eğitim Derneği Ankara Koleji Lisesi) and from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. He completed his specialty education in the Department of Internal Medicine of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and his subspecialty education in the Medical Oncology Unit of the Department of Internal Medicine of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1993. He became associate professor in 1993 and then professor in 2001. He studied in the field of lymphoma treatment in M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, Houston, USA for twelve months in 2000 and 2001. He gained the Award for Encouragement in Science from Hacettepe University in the academic period of 1997-1998. He currently deals with Hodgkin disease and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma treatments.
