Prof. Dr. Sibel (Çalışkan) Kadayıfçılar was born in Ankara, Turkey. She is a graduate of Ankara Science High School and Hacettepe University Medical School. She has completed her residency at Hacettepe University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology. Between 1995 and 1998 she worked as an ophthalmologist and then as an Assistant Professor at Başkent University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology. She returned to Hacettepe University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in September 1998 as Assistant Professor. She became Associate Professor in November 2000 and received the title of Professor in April 2006, at the same department. She is fluent in English and speaks German.
She was a visiting scholar at Gazi University Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, United Kingdom) and University of Wisconsin, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (Madison, Wisconsin, USA).
Her main study areas are the diseases of the retina – vitreous and uveitis. She has published many articles and presented papers on these issues nationally and internationally. She has written several book chapters in Turkish and one chapter in English. She has taken part in several international multicentric studies.
She served as a member of Executive Board of Turkish Ophthalmological Society Medical Retina Unit and since December 2012, she is a member of Turkish Ophthalmological Society Uvea-Behcet Unit Executive Board.
